The historic bed and breakfast in the heart of Dallas' Oaklawn neighborhood

Daisy Polk Inn - The historic bed and breakfast in the heart of Dallas' Oaklawn neighborhood.

The Daisy Polk Inn is centrally located in Dallas and is very accessible from both major airports, the train station, the bus depot and 2 interstate highways.

From Dallas/Fort Worth International airport and Love Field airport

Dallas/Fort Worth Internatioinal (DFW):

  • Using the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) system?  You will step outside of terminals B,C, D, or E and locate the yellow DART sign at the curb where a free DART shuttle bus will take you to terminal A. If you are arriving into terminal A then you are in luck as the light rail terminal is located just outside of  terminal A near the gate 1 entrance. The average shuttle ride takes about 10 minutes. At the terminal A shuttle stop you will find signs directing to the light rail terminal that is about a 2 minute walk.  You can purchase a day pass at the rail terminal for $5 that will be valid for the entire rest of the day on all trains and buses.  Only the Orange Line services DFW so there will be no confusion as to which train to board.  You will ride the train to West End Station in downtown Dallas where you will disembark and walk across N. Lamar Street to the DART bus transfer station.  You will board the 39 bus (last 39 bus leaving each day departs at 11:30pm) and you will disembark the bus at the corner of Cedar Springs and Reagan in front of a vintage fire station.  As soon as you hear the automated bus announcement system say "Oaklawn Avenue" press the yellow strip nearest your seat to tell the driver that you want off at the next stop.  Just cross Cedar Springs street and walk a half block further down Reagan Street and you will see the inn at the corner of Reagan and Dickason.
  • Using Uber or similar service?  Just hail an Uber via app as you normally would, the trip (depending on traffic) will cost approximately $40-$50.
  • Using a taxi service?  We recommend Cowboy Cab to our guests who choose to hire a taxi as we have found their service to be much friendlier.  There are multiple taxi lines at each terminal for your convenience.  The trip (depending on traffic) will cost approximately $45-$60.

Love Field airport (DAL):

  • Using the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) system?  You will step outside of the terminal building in front of baggage claim and you will see a yellow DART sign where the free shuttle bus will pick you up and take you to the Love Field light rail station.  You will disembark at the rail station.  You can purchase a day pass at the rail station for $5 that will be valid for the entire rest of the day on all trains and buses.  After you have your pass you will board the 39 bus (last 39 bus leaving each day departs at 11:30pm) and you will disembark the bus near the corner of Cedar Springs and Reagan just across the street from a vintage fire station.  As soon as you hear the automated bus announcement system say "Oaklawn Avenue" press the yellow strip nearest your seat to tell the driver that you want off at the next stop.  You will walk just around the corner on Reagan Street about a half block and you will see the inn at the corner of Reagan and Dickason.
  • Using Uber or similar service?  Just hail an Uber via app as you normally would, the trip (depending on traffic) will cost approximately $6-$12.
  • Using a taxi service?  We recommend Cowboy Cab to our guests who choose to hire a taxi as we have found their service to be much friendlier.  There is a taxi line outside the  terminal for your convenience.  The trip (depending on traffic) will cost approximately $15-$20.

From Union Station (rail) or Greyhound depot (bus)

Union Station (Amtrak):

  • Once you have disembarked from your Amtrak train simply locate the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) light rail platform just a few feet away.  Purchase a day pass for $5 from one of the automated kiosks on the platform which will be valid on all trains and buses for the entire day. You will board either the Red LIne bound for Parker Rd. Station or the Blue Line bound for Rowlett, whichever train arrives first will be just fine.  You will only stay on the train for one stop and disembark at West End Station.  Once you disembark from the light rail you will walk across N.

Greyhound depot (bus):

  • Once you have disembarked from your Greyhound bus you will walk out the front of the depot building facing onto Lamar Street.  Turn left and walk north on Lamar for 3 blocks where you will see a DART bus transfer station. Cross the street to the transfer station. You can purchase a day pass for $5 from one of the automated kiosks either in the station building or directly from the bus driver, which will be valid on all trains and buses for the entire day.
